° A light story for pre-teens, this book has a magical element where secret powers get used to good effect ─ sometimes with very comical results. The story reminded me in a delightful way that children with a purpose can be a positive force for change in a world that really needs it. (Celia Fleming)

A thoroughly delightful magical read ─ who would not want to know why bank notes get pink wings, 4 x 4’s shrink to dinkies, or hunting rifles get knots tied in their barrels? Here are a lot of adventures, some involving a very wicked professor. Read this book and learn more! (Ingrid Thomen)

Jill Morsbach’s use of language is so colourfully descriptive and the plot of the story so original and compelling, I found myself, even as an adult, reading every word. It’s not just an adventure story but illustrates both the importance of human relationships and concern for environmental issues. (Hildegard Robert, English teacher)
